My baby is growing up...

I was convinced she was getting into trouble because she was too quite while I was making dinner. I finally was able to walk away from the kitchen to check on her only to find her quietly playing with her blocks. Will wonders never cease?

We like to think it's just the students

So I know I haven't posted in FOREVER but something happened today that I have to share.

I often spend days, weeks and even entire semesters moaning about how our students never pay attention. While that does tend to be true, today I realized that we never grow out of this.

Right before the semester started I had a meeting for the adjuncts that I coordinate/over see and passed out keys to the new locking file cabinet we are using to store documents. I then emailed all of these adjuncts to remind them of the important things covered during the meeting (and to fill in those who had missed the meeting). I specifically mentioned the new locking file cabinet. I then put short notes in the two rooms in which my labs are taught saying to see me prior to their first class if they missed the meeting.

Today I get a phone call from our secretary because one of the adjuncts wanted to know how to get a key. Seriously????

Helena has such a small head that we needed to get wrap around sunglasses so that they would stay on. These are held in place with a neoprene band (that is currently adjusted to the smallest possible size) and she seems to like them or at least not mind them amazingly enough.

You can see why they are such a good idea here in southern Utah.

Sometimes you win...

I entered a contest at Babies and Kids for a cute onesie and I won!

We got our choice of designs from The Trendy Tadpole and this seemed like a good choice for Helena to wear to school in the fall. We figure our students will get a kick out of it when they see it.

Betsy!

Late this week a package showed up on our doorstep unexpectedly. Inside was this gorgeous sweater from Betsy. Betsy was in one of my knitting groups back in Santa Barbara and we had sorta lost touch but she's been keeping up with my blog. Even more fun is the fact that when she finished the sweater and brought it to show to the knitting group, they ran into my old spinning/knitting group at the coffee shop where they met.

So THANK YOU BETSY!!!!
