Virginia Tech

For those of you who haven't heard the news, there was a shooting at Virginia Tech this morning. The information we have from friends there is that the total number shot is around 60 with 32 deaths as of a few hours ago. My brother did his undergraduate degree there and we both have friends who stayed on in Blacksburg after they finished college. It's a wonderful community.

All good thoughts, dpns, and prayers would be welcome.

Shocking and scary.

Glad to know everyone you know was okay.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those affected, of course... but does dpns stand for something other than "double pointed needles?" Is it a reference to wanting to unleash pointy sticks upon the source of the suffering and pain, or does "dpns" stand for something else that I don't know about. Perhaps the "yarn fumes" have polluted my brain?

dpns does stand for double point needles. I'm on a yahoo list group where people wave dpns for good luck and good wishes.

dpn are like magic wands, don'tcha know.

Yeah, they kinda do multiple duty-- sharp pointy sticks when you need them, lightning rods when crappening occurs, clue by fours (like a 2x4 Board of Education), or divining rods to find good luck.

They also work to bring the food out of the kitchen- as soon as you start to knit, your food comes.

It originated years ago when someone pointed her dpns at a hurricane to steer it away. It worked!

Glad all the friends and acquaintances are accounted for and ok, Erin.
