We got it!
The appraisal came in over our final price so we can actually buy the house. I'm still waiting for something to go wrong but I think we may finally be out of things that can.

i would like to be invited to the house warming party.
Congratulations!
Next comes the day you go sign so many papers you're exhausted and cranky. This is actually a good thing, because it partially anesthetizes you from feeling how large an obligation you've just taken on.
After that comes the irrepressible urge to go to Home Depot.
Congratlations!!!
How exciting!
Uh, that whole Home Depot thing... well... uh... it's already happened.
We're pretty comfortable with the mortgage at least. Since we didn't want to be house poor, we went with a monthly payment we could afford now but would only take 15 years to pay off. It's much less scary than going with a super fancy place that you hope you can afford in the future over a longer time frame (the kitchen and fireplace not withstanding).
Thuy, the party will be at the end of the summer-ish and anyone who reads this blog who feels like driving to Utah is more than welcome.
