My Dad just emailed me this. Gotta love that man.

Right now I've got some bobotie cooking. It's an Afrikaans dish that is part meatloaf, part custard, part casserole. As such, there are as many recipes for bobotie as there are for meatloaf. I'll post the official one with photos tomorrow and make notes where I tend to diverge. And yes, there is an official one. There is an Afrikaans cookbook that is the equivalent of "The Joy of Cooking" and it is even published in English these days. But you can't buy it in this country (and I had searched before my mil gave me a copy) so I won't even bother trying to find a link to it. You'll have to satisfy yourselves with just the recipe.
