Our Thanksgiving
So I told you that I would explain my lack of posts over the Thanksgiving holiday. Here is my explanation:
Some of you might remember Marius' niece, Liza. We flew to Manhattan, KS to spend Thanksgiving with Marius' brother's family and we brought books for Liza. It turns out that this was the best thing we could have brought her and I was instantly elevated to favorite person status. When I wasn't reading to Liza or carrying her, this is what we did. She is actually snoring in this photo. There was no way I was going to stop this just to blog.

For Thanksgiving itself, I was the token American. Everyone else there was from sub-Saharan Africa. Needless to say it wasn't a traditional Thanksgiving meal. We had a leg of lamb and venison curry. It was all good food so who am I to complain?

Once we finished eating, Hans (one of the other S. Africans at dinner) invited us out to see a property he had just bought. It isn't along the lake as the Corps of Engineers owns the area immediately adjacent to the lake for flood control but he has some spectacular views and lake access.

The next day we went to Kansas State Univ. to see where both Deon and Ronette work. We had to take photos of this:
And in case you can't make out the writing, here's a close-up:
The next day Deon took Marius to the place where he flies R/C planes.

Sadly, there was a mishap and Sylvester had a very bad day.

Fortunately the damage can be repaired and Sylvester will fly again!
